On Thursday morning, January 25, 2024, the Russian Language Department at the College of Languages at the University of Baghdad held a discussion of the master\u2019s thesis entitled (Metaphor in the Military Field in the Contemporary Russian Press of the Recent Era 2012-2022 and its Translation into Arabic) by the researcher Hala Hazem Tawfiq. The master’s thesis sheds light on the issue of metaphor in the military field. Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, the world has witnessed the spread of wars and conflicts in various parts of the earth. As a result, military news has come to the forefront of news bulletins and occupies the largest space in all media outlets. Military and war events have become the topic of the day and of the hour overshadowing other facts. This was necessarily reflected in the use of language as the primary means of communication among humans. As a result, military terminology has become widely used and occupies a significant space in the language of speakers. This terminology has spread to various other areas of knowledge and is used at all levels of language, from literary and formal to colloquial. One of the ways this prevalence is manifested is through the metaphorical use of military terminology. This reflects the importance of the topic being discussed. The thesis under evaluation specializes in studying military metaphors in the Russian language over the past decade and the issues that arise when translating them into Arabic.<\/span><\/p>\n

The thesis consists of an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion, a list of references, and two appendices. The conclusion contains the most important results that emerged from the study.<\/span><\/p>\n
