{"id":2628,"date":"2025-07-15T09:27:02","date_gmt":"2025-07-15T09:27:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.colang.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2628"},"modified":"2025-07-15T09:27:02","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T09:27:02","slug":"college-of-languages-discusses-a-masters-thesis-defense-on-ambiguity-in-david-gascoignes-poetry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.colang.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2628","title":{"rendered":"College of Languages discusses a master&#8217;s thesis defense on ambiguity in David Gascoigne&#8217;s poetry"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><strong>College of <\/strong><strong>Languages discusses a master&#8217;s<\/strong><strong> t<\/strong><strong>hesis<\/strong><strong> defense<\/strong><strong> on ambiguity in David Gascoigne&#8217;s poetry<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #000000; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.colang.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?page_id=68\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The English Language Department<\/span><\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/en.colang.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">the College of Languages<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">University of Baghdad<\/span><\/a> discussed the master&#8217;s thesis defense entitled (Exploring the Mysterious Worlds in Selected Poems of David Gascoigne) by Hanan Abdul Zaid Abboud Ali.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #000000; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">The thesis aimed to provide critical reflection and emotional insight into the poems of the British poet David Gascoyne by exploring the ambiguity surrounding his poetic style. It also included a comprehensive analysis of the development of Gascoyne&#8217;s poetic journey through three poetic paths: surrealism, religion and spirituality, and existentialism and transcendence. The poems were analyzed by applying a three dimensional theoretical framework that includes dream theory, aesthetic theory, and existential theory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #000000; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">The thesis concluded that the idea of ambiguity and mystery in Gascoigne&#8217;s poems stems from the ambiguity of the human psyche, which refuses to reveal its true feelings and fears due to societal restrictions or religious traditions. The research committee recommended that the comments made by the committee members be taken into account, and the thesis was accepted with a &#8220;complete&#8221; grade.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]<div id=\"cz_41879\" class=\"cz_grid_p cz_41879\"><div class=\"cz_grid cz_grid_1 clr cz_grid_c3 cz_grid_1_no_title cz_grid_1_mid tac cz_grid_two_columns_on_mobile cz_tooltip cz_grid_1_no_title\"><div class=\"cz_grid_item cz_grid_first\"><\/div><div class=\"cz_grid_item \"><div data-title=\"College of Languages
