College of Languages Holds Its Second International Scientific Conference to Promote Integration Between Linguistic and Cultural Studies\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The College of Languages at the University of Baghdad held its Second International Scientific Conference, entitled \u201cLanguages as a direction towards Foreign Cultures\u201d, in a distinguished academic event attended by Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs (representing the President of the University of Baghdad), along with a group of researchers and experts from Iraq and abroad. Dean of the College of Languages, Professor Dr Ali Adnan Mushoush, emphasized that the conference constitutes a scientific forum where researchers gather to exchange expertise and present modern perspectives in the fields of language, literature, and translation.<\/span><\/p>\n

For his part, Professor Dr Suhail Najm Abdullah explained that the convening of the conference reflects the University of Baghdad\u2019s commitment to strengthening scientific research and engaging with international academic institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference sessions were distributed across several research themes, most notably:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

– The role of language in constructing cultural identity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

– The impact of multilingual digital media.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

– Modern technologies in translation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

– Challenges of artificial intelligence in the fields of language and translation, along with related ethical and practical issues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference also featured welcoming speeches delivered in multiple languages by researchers, ambassadors, and local and international academic figures. A specialized panel discussion was held under the title \u201cThe Reality of Translation Output in Iraq Between Publication and Marketing\u201d, with the participation of translators, researchers, and publishers. The session addressed the key challenges facing translation activity in Iraq, particularly concerning copyright, editing, distribution mechanisms, and marketing channels inside and outside Iraq. The conference concluded with recommendations emphasizing the importance of supporting cross-cultural research and strengthening international cooperation among academic institutions. This activity fulfills the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4, which calls for quality education, and Goal 17, which emphasizes partnerships for achieving the goals.<\/span><\/p>\n
