Overview of the Faculty of Languages Council
The Faculty Council is the highest academic and administrative authority. The Dean leads the Council, which convenes to address key matters concerning the faculty’s teaching, research, and administrative activities. The Council comprises the Dean’s assistants and the heads of the academic departments and establishes overarching policies that shape the faculty’s academic and administrative priorities.
Among its principal academic responsibilities are approving admission plans for undergraduate and postgraduate studies; reviewing research, authorship, and translation plans; considering the establishment of new academic departments and postgraduate programs; approving thesis and dissertation titles; discussing postgraduate students’ academic progress; and recommending the awarding of academic degrees. The Council also periodically reviews undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, approves examination schedules and results, recommends academic staff for promotion, monitors the quality of education, and develops strategic plans to advance the faculty’s academic standing and performance.
At the administrative and financial level, the Council oversees the faculty’s administrative and technical affairs, proposes its annual budget, and serves as an effective liaison between the Faculty, the University, and the Ministry. Through these functions, it helps the faculty fulfill its mission of preparing highly qualified graduates with strong academic and professional capabilities.
