Master’s Thesis at the College of Languages Explores Grammatical Features of Adjectives in the Gospel of Matthew

On Monday, August 25, 2025, the Department of Syriac Language at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, discussed the master’s thesis titled “The Grammatical Features of Adjectives – A Comparative Semitic Linguistic Study Based on the Gospel of Matthew” by graduate student Farah Bassam Zaki.

The thesis aimed to clarify the concept of the adjective through both comparative and descriptive approaches, and to identify points of divergence and convergence among Semitic languages in terms of their definitions, types, forms, patterns, and degrees, using linguistic comparisons drawn from the Gospel of Matthew. The researcher also sought to describe linguistic phenomena with precision and objectivity, reflecting the diversity within Semitic languages (Syriac, Arabic, Hebrew, Akkadian, and Mandaic). The committee recommended that the researcher consider the members’ observations during the discussion
