The College of Languages Discusses a Master’s Thesis on the Spiritual Experience in the Poetry of Charles Wright

The Department of English at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, discussed a master’s thesis titled “Exploring the Unseen Through Landscapes in Selected Poems by Charles Wright” submitted by student Ann Imad Dawood.

The thesis aimed to explore Wright’s spiritual journey—with all its struggles and failures—showing how the poet, through the depth of his verse and the presence of nature, finds an opportunity to break the cycle of inner conflict in pursuit of understanding the unseen. It also examined his journey into his past, his fragmented self, the world of language and its limits, and ultimately the divine in nature and within himself from a philosophical perspective.

The committee recommended accepting the thesis as submitted.

The examination committee consisted of:

  • Prof. Dr. Hanaa Khalif Ghani – Chair
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Aseel Abdul Latif Taha – Member
  • Asst. Prof. Zainab Hassoun Abdul Ameer – Member
  • Prof. Dr. Nadia Ali Ismail – Supervisor
