The German Language Department at the College of Languages, University, organized a scientific seminar titled “Artificial Intelligence and its Role in Enhancing Scientific Research” on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, attended by several faculty members and students. The seminar aimed to explain the positive and negative roles of artificial intelligence, its impacts on scientific research and translation, and the creation of an academic community in harmony with societal development and simulation of smart machines as aids to human capabilities rather than a curse. The seminar was chaired by Mrs. Maysoon Ali Arzooqi, head of the German Language Department, who also contributed a research paper, along with participation from Prof. Bahaa Mahmoud Alwan, Prof. Asmaa Mohammed Abbas, Prof. Ali Hussein Abdul Majid, Dr. Maher Hawney Habib, Mr. Mazen Jumaa, Mr. Abdul Nasser Naima Taama, and Mr. Hilal Abdul Hamza Abbas. The seminar recommended not fully relying on artificial intelligence and marginalizing the human role in scientific research and translation, considering artificial intelligence as an active partner and an auxiliary means.
