College of Languages Celebrates Russian Culture with a Special Festival Attended by the Russian Ambassador
Under the sponsorship of the Dean of the College of Languages, Prof. Dr. Ali Adnan Mashoush, the Department of Russian Language organized its annual cultural festival, attended by His Excellency Elbrus Kutrashev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Iraq, accompanied by a delegation from the Russian Embassy in Baghdad, along with faculty members and students. The College administration welcomed the Ambassador and his accompanying delegation in an academic and cultural atmosphere that reflected the depth of scientific and cultural relations between the two sides. The visit came as part of the department’s celebration of its annual cultural day. The festival opened with a speech by the Dean, who welcomed the attendees and praised the fruitful cooperation with the Russian Embassy and Russian universities, as well as their continuous support for academic and cultural activities, which contributes to enhancing knowledge exchange and openness to world cultures.
The festival featured a diverse program of artistic and literary activities, including theatrical and musical performances, in addition to poetry recitations in Russian. Faculty members and students participated actively, presenting aspects of Russian literature and culture in an engaging atmosphere.The event concluded with a group performance of a Russian song by the students, adding a festive spirit to the celebration. For his part, the Ambassador expressed his delight with the excellent organization of the festival and the diversity of its activities, praising the advanced linguistic proficiency of the students and commending the efforts of the department’s faculty in developing their skills. Meanwhile, the Head of the Russian Language Department, Prof. Dr. Najwa Fouad, praised the academic and linguistic level demonstrated by the students during the festival, affirming the department’s commitment to enhancing linguistic and cultural competencies and strengthening cultural exchange with world civilizations.
