Russian Language Department Students from the College of Languages Arrive in Russia and Begin Their Training Program

Students from the Department of Russian Language at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, have commenced their developmental training program at the Chechen State Pedagogical University in Grozny, Russian Federation.

The program is part of their academic scholarship to participate in an intensive Russian language and culture course held from *August 4 to September 3, 2026*. The one‑month program is offered within the framework of the scientific cooperation agreement between the University of Baghdad and the Chechen State Pedagogical University.

The training course opened with a welcoming ceremony for international guests, led by *Tamara Avtaeva*, Assistant to the President of the Chechen State Pedagogical University for Scientific and International Activities. In her speech, she stated that the project—organized in cooperation with the University of Baghdad—aims to develop communicative competence among foreign students through a combination of classroom instruction, interactive virtual reality simulations, and direct communication practice in a natural linguistic environment.

She emphasized that the program also seeks to strengthen friendly relations and open new opportunities for collaboration. Prof. Dr. *Najwa Fouad Ali*, Head of the Russian Language Department at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, also delivered remarks expressing her gratitude for the participation of the department’s students in this program.

She noted that this opportunity enables students to improve their Russian language proficiency within its natural linguistic environment, affirming that the in‑country training will provide new knowledge and vivid learning experiences.

Following the opening ceremony, participants proceeded to their first language training sessions. It is worth noting that the project is implemented within the framework of applied scientific research supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. It aims to enhance international cooperation in promoting the Russian language in Arabic‑speaking countries. As part of the program requirements, students underwent written examinations and oral interviews before their departure, all of which they successfully passed.
