Master’s Thesis Defense on Cultural Identity in Selected Novels by Kamila Shamsie at the College of Languages

The Department of English at the Faculty of Languages , University of Baghdad, held the defense session for the master’s thesis of student Mohammed Al‑Jawad Atheer Radi Saleh, titled “Cultural Identity in Selected Novels by Kamila Shamsie.” The session was attended by a specialized academic committee, along with several faculty members and interested attendees. The study aimed to examine representations of cultural identity in three selected novels by the British‑Pakistani author *Kamila Shamsie*, by exploring the mechanisms through which identity is formed as a dynamic construct influenced by political, historical, social, and economic factors, extending beyond the boundaries of individual identity. At the conclusion of the defense, the committee recommended accepting the thesis after making minor revisions within a period not exceeding one month.
