The College of Languages discusses a master’s thesis in the Russian language
The Department of Russian Language in the College of Languages discussed the master’s thesis entitled (Linguistic description of the legal term in the Russian language and the problem of achieving the translational equivalent in the Arabic language) by the student BanazDiaa Salman, where the discussion committee was formed of the teachers:
Prof.Dr.SadeqKamer. Chairman Assistant
Prof Dr. Abdul Jabbar Mohsen ( Member)
Assistant Prof Dr.MontherMullaKazem – Member
Assistant Prof Dr. Hussein KazemMajdi – Supervisor
The goal of the thesis was to discuss the translation of the idiomatic vocabulary of the legal texts, where the terms are characterized by clarity and accuracy and therefore they are difficult to translate as the legal translation requires the correct use of the idiomatic side of the language to meet the requirements and convey information. The thesis also included the requirements of the legal translator, such as familiarity with accurate legal terminology and the laws adopted in the country.
The study concluded that the literal translation of texts and legal terminology often leads to the reproduction of a text that contained some linguistic, semantic and terminological errors, and thus does not fulfill the required meaning and does not achieve the communicative legal discourse.
