Participation of Two Faculty Members from the College of Languages in the International Forum on Iranian Studies in Tehran and Shiraz
Two faculty members from the Department of Persian Language, Prof. Dr Khairiya Dammak Qasim and Prof. Dr. Anwar Abbas Majid, took part in the International Forum on Iranian Studies, held from November 15 to 18, 2025, in Tehran and Shiraz.
Their participation came in response to an official invitation extended by the organizing bodies of the forum, namely the Organization of Culture and Islamic Relations, the Institute of Iranian Studies, and the universities of Tehran, Shahid Beheshti, Allameh Tabataba’i, Science and Culture, in addition to Shiraz University. Prof. Dr. Anwar Abbas Majid presented a scholarly paper entitled “Language Teaching as a Tool for Cultural Diplomacy: In Light of Teaching Persian and Arabic in Iran and Iraq”, while Prof. Dr. Khairiya Dammak Qasim contributed a paper entitled “The Role of Story Translation in Understanding Iranian Culture: In Light of Translating the Story of the Jar.” The sessions of the forum witnessed wide attendance and notable interaction with the research insights and academic contributions of the two faculty members in the fields of language, literature, and translation.
