College of Languages Publishes Scientific Research in a Prestigious International Journal
Dr. Rahim Ali Al-Fawadi, a faculty member in the Department of Russian Language at the College of Languages – University of Baghdad, in collaboration with Dr. Viktoria Nikolaevna from the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, has published a scientific research paper in the (RUDN Journal of Language Studies, Semiotics and Semantics), which is ranked in the first quartile (Q1) of the global Scopus index. This achievement aligns with the University of Baghdad’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its scientific presence on the international stage.
The paper, titled “The Derivational Property of Diminutive Nouns in Arabic and Russian and Their Semantic Implications in Translation”, focuses on the derivational characteristics of diminutive vocabulary in both Arabic and Russian. The researchers paid particular attention to the morphological reasoning behind the formation of these nouns and the meanings they convey during translation between the two languages. This accomplishment reaffirms the College of Languages’ commitment to advancing scientific research and strengthening international academic collaboration, thereby reinforcing the University of Baghdad’s status as a leading institution in the fields of humanities and linguistics at both regional and global levels.
