Participation of a Faculty Member from the College of Languages in an International Conference in Spain

College Professor Sabah Salem Jabbar, a lecturer from the Department of English at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, participated in the proceedings of the 11th International Conference titled “Links Between Spain and America: 250 Years of Shared Relations”*, held in Spain.

He presented a research paper entitled “Migration in Spanish-American Fiction: Identity, Displacement, and Cultural Hybridisation,” in which he examined the major impacts of migration on individuals and societies. The study highlighted the role of the novel as a significant literary genre capable of portraying migrants’ suffering and the challenges they encounter, while also addressing issues of identity and cultural diversity. At the conclusion of its sessions, the conference recommended the need to promote comparative studies in transnational literature, particularly those addressing migration and cultural identity, along with encouraging research concerned with multiculturalism and intercultural dialogue.
