College of Languages Discusses A Master’s Thesis The Meaning of Verbs in A Contemporary Iranian Novel .
On Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the department’s seminar hall, the Department of Persian Language at the College of Languages - University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entitled (Verbs in The Novel The Repeated Absences Of The Behnami Coast – A Semantic Study) by the student (Ru’a Jassim Washi).
The thesis aimed to analyze the meanings of verbs (simple, compound, auxiliary, antecedent, compound antecedent and phrasal verb) in contemporary novels according to the rule of synonymy with the aim of revealing hidden meanings in the text, considering that the category of verbs in the Persian language has been the focus of attention and explanation of many grammarians and linguists.
The thesis has also included a detailed explanation of the words that came within the concept of the verb, as the goal of this message is to reach the most accurate meaning of the verb used in the novel using the analytical method (semantic analysis) so that its meaning is clear to the recipient, especially to those who study the Persian language and its literature.
The committee has recommended that the researcher take into account the remarks made by its members, and the thesis was accepted with a rating of (Pass ).
