A delegation from the Iranian Cultural Attaché visits the College of Languages
The Dean of the College of Languages, Professor Dr. Ali Adnan Mashwash, received the delegation from the Iranian Cultural Attaché in Baghdad and the Saadi Foundation in Iran on the morning of Sunday, November tenth, twenty twenty-four. The meeting was attended by the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, and the Head of the Persian Language Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Amin Abdul Abbas.
The delegation included Dr. Mohammad Javad Najafi, Director of Academic and University Relations and Persian Language at the Iranian Cultural Attaché in Baghdad; Dr. Amir Zand Moqaddam, Scientific and Research Assistant at the Saadi Foundation; and Mr. Ali Mousa Zadeh, Deputy for International Affairs. The visit aimed to strengthen academic and scientific collaboration between the Persian Language Department at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, and the Saadi Foundation. The collaboration seeks to open avenues for academic cooperation through training and development programs for faculty and students, along with providing the department with scientific resources and references.
Additionally, the discussions addressed organizing academic trips for faculty members and students to Iran during the spring and summer breaks, offering master and doctoral scholarships, and supplying the Persian Language Department with scientific curricula to achieve accreditation in Persian language and literature studies. The delegation also reviewed the students’ academic level and the teaching methods adopted in the department. Students expressed their happiness with the attention given to this unique department, which offers undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Baghdad.
During a tour of the college’s facilities, the delegation praised the scientific and infrastructural advancements made in recent years. They affirmed their support for initiatives that would enhance the educational process in Persian language and literature. The delegation commended the faculty’s role in organizing specialized academic seminars at the college and the cultural attaché. The visit was attended by Professor Dr. Anwar Abbas Majeed, the official coordinator between the Iranian Embassy and the University of Baghdad.
