College of Languages Discusses a Master’s Thesis on the Analysis of the Human Psyche in Seamus Heaney’s Poetry
The Department of English at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, discussed a master’s thesis titled (Exploring the Human Psyche in Selected Poems by Seamus Heaney) by student Dania Hussein Abdul Moneim.
The study aimed to uncover the intricacies of the human psyche as portrayed in the poetry of the Irish poet Seamus Heaney, where the poet assumes the role of the individual and reflects their behaviors and inner depths through his verses. The thesis applied psychological theories, including Sigmund Freud’s concepts of the unconscious and individual behavior in relation to war and death, as well as Carl Jung’s theory of the collective unconscious and archetypes. The committee recommended that the researcher consider the feedback provided by its members.
