Oral defence of  a Master’s Thesis on  “The Effects of Morphological Structures on Political Ideology in Hebrew Essays”

The Hebrew Department at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, examined the Master’s thesis entitled “Morphological Structures and their  Meanings in the Hebrew Political Article – An Applied Study of Ben Caspit’s Articles” submitted by the master’s degree candidate Wasan Abdul Karim Hamid.

The study aimed to explore the relationship between morphological structures and the meanings they suggest in Hebrew political discourse, emphasizing the role of morphological analysis in uncovering political ideology. It further sought to demonstrate the linguistic strategies employed by Ben Caspit to influence readers through the use of morphological structures.

The thesis presented a detailed morphological analysis of verbs, including both active and passive forms, identified recurring morphological patterns, and interpreted their political implications. It also investigated morphological processes such as derivation and repetition, and their function in persuasion and shaping public opinion. It is recommended to conduct further studies relating morphological structures to political and media contexts and to adopt morphological and syntactic tools in the analysis of Hebrew media discourse. The committee examiners provided several remarks and advised the researcher to include them in her thesis.
