Master’s Thesis at the College of Languages Examines Russian Military Terms in Media Discourse
The Department of Russian at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad, examined the Master’s thesis entitled “Functional Features of Russian Military Terms and their Equivalents in Arabic: A Case Study of Media Language” by the master’s degree candidate Hasan Hafiz Hussein Jreizi.
The study aimed to identify the functional characteristics of Russian military terms and their Arabic equivalents in media contexts, examine their variations and functions, and define the concept of terminology and terms related to the military field. The thesis included an analysis of military terms, focusing on the differences between common vocabulary and technical terms in the Russian military system.
The committee recommended enhancing applied linguistic studies linking idioms with military and political discourse, encouraging researchers to analyse contemporary Russian military media discourse, and investigating the use of military terminology and its impact on Arab audiences. The committee also advised the researcher to incorporate the notes provided during the discussion.
