A participation by the College of Languages in the 17th Congress of the Russian World Assembly in Moscow
The Dean of the College of Languages at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr Ali Adnan Mashoush, along with Professor Dr Hadeel Ismail Khalil from the Department of Russian Language, participated in the 17th Russian World Assembly held in Moscow from October 20–22.
This annual event, organized by the “Russkiy Mir Foundation,” focused this year on the theme: “The Essential Contribution of the Russian World to International Development: History, Modernity, and the Future.” Dean Mashoush delivered a presentation titled “The Russian Language in Arab Countries,” emphasizing the importance of enhancing joint educational programs to preserve linguistic and cultural heritage.
On another panel, Dr Hadeel Ismail Khalil contributed to a session titled “The Russian Language in African and Middle Eastern Countries,” where she addressed key challenges faced by Russian language students in Iraq, including logistical obstacles. She proposed practical solutions such as international partnerships, digital programs, and activating summer courses for students and faculty through the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.
On the sidelines of the event, the Dean met with Mr. Nikita Vladimirovich Gusev, President of the Pushkin State Institute, where they discussed their views on enhancing academic exchange between the University of Baghdad and the Institute. An official invitation was extended to the Institute to attend the College of Languages’ Second International Scientific Conference, scheduled for November 26–27 of this year—marking a positive step toward deepening bilateral partnerships.
