Dr. Ali Adnan Mashwash, Dean of the college of Languages, welcome in his office on Wednesday morning, 14/03/2024, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, Mr. Pedro Martinez Abial.
The two parties discussed ways to maintain international communication and the necessity of extending bridges of cultural cooperation for both parties by sending students of the Spanish Language Department to the Kingdom of Spain in training courses to develop and improve their linguistic skills.
His Excellency the Ambassador also met the faculty members of the Spanish Department at the college, and the two parties discussed the reality of teaching the Spanish language and ways to develop it according to modern teaching methods. They also discussed role of the Spanish side in scientific and cultural cooperation with the department’s professors and their students. The Dean was keen to open new horizons in Spanish scientific and cultural cooperation in Iraq and the College of Languages, and creating new opportunities for students to participate in language developing activities.
The meeting was fruitful with the faculty members at the Spanish department in presenting development ideas.
His Excellency the Ambassador and the Dean listened to the opinions of the instructors and their suggestions for developing relations and the necessity of establishing an international cultural institute to teach the Spanish language.
Moreover, the Spanish ambassador met the students pursuing their study at the aforementioned department, speaking to them about the need to develop their language and via continuous communication, and encouraging them to make efforts to send students from the College of Languages to Spain and receive Spanish students to learn the Arabic language in Iraq.
The College of Languages, through its support for cultural activities alongside the importance of learning languages and in contribution to the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development to ensure equitable and comprehensive quality of education for all. During the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, faculty members and students, emphasized cooperation and partnerships between the various segments of the society, in line with the principles of Goal 17 of the Sustainable development through collaborative efforts between academia, governments and other sectors.
