College of Languages Initiates the First Official Cooperation with Dante Alighieri Society in Iraq

A conversation course in Italian language has started in the college. This course targets students of first and second year in the Department of Italian language under the supervision of the society. This society is considered the most prestigious society internationally that teaches Italian language; the headquarter is in Rome. The head of the department, Dr. Bahaa Najim, and the faulty members have attended the course that is held in the college laboratory.

This course is one of the cooperation activities between the department and the society, supported by the Cultural Office of the Italian Embassy in Baghdad and under the supervision of the director of the office Dr. Claudia Gatta. This course also develops the students’ language skills to make them ready to study in Italy during their third year or graduate study. The lecturer is Dr. Alysandra Olevano; her major is linguistics. The program lasts one month and focuses on developing conversation skills of students, using modern teaching methods.

This first cooperation is considered an important, academic step to make the college an official center in teaching Italian language and awarding certificates in Iraq. This course allows students to access Dante Global electronic platform during the period of the course, which enriches students’ learning.
