A high-level Chinese delegation visits the College of Languages at the University of Baghdad in preparation for the opening of the Chinese Language Department
An official delegation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China visited the College of Languages at the University of Baghdad on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 as part of strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between the two sides and discussing ways to open a Chinese language department at the college. The delegation was headed by the First Secretary of the Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Wu Qichao, Director of the Political Section at the Embassy, and the Political Attaché, Mr. Wang Tuoxu.
The delegation was received by the Dean of the College of Languages, Professor Dr. Ali Adnan Mashwash, in the presence of the Dean’s assistants. The delegation then toured the college’s halls, including the proposed classrooms for the Chinese Language Department, the laboratories, the library, and the research and student activities centers.
During the visit, the Chinese delegation affirmed the Chinese Embassy in Baghdad’s full support for the establishment of a Chinese Language Department at the College of Languages, and expressed its readiness to provide the necessary teaching staff, educational curricula, and technical resources, thus contributing to enhancing cultural understanding between the Iraqi and Chinese peoples.
