College of Languages Organizes an Academic symposium on the Future of Translation in the Era of Artificial Intelligence
The Spanish Language Department at the College of Languages organized an academic symposium titled (The Future of Translation in the Era of Artificial Intelligence) on Sunday, February 9, 2025. The symposium was moderated by Assistant Professor Hadeel Adel Kamal.
with the participation of lecturers (Assistant Professor Riyad Mahdi, Assistant Professor Muhammad Hashem, Assistant Professor Enas Sadiq, Assistant Professor Ammar Reda, and Eng. Rihab Youssef), and in the presence of lecturers and staff of the college students.
The symposium aimed to identify an introduction to artificial intelligence translation and how to use it in terms of positive and negative aspects.
The symposium touched upon the use of artificial intelligence tools and how to make use of them in facilitating the translation process, increasing its accuracy, and improving the efficiency of translators in performing their tasks.
The symposium tackled the most important challenges that translators may face in light of the development of these technologies, and how to adapt to them to maintain the quality of human translation and enhance the role of the translator in the future.
The researchers recommended raising awareness of the importance of artificial intelligence in the field of translation and benefiting from its advanced tools to improve the quality of translation work.
It also emphasized the role of the human translator in reviewing and adjusting texts to ensure accuracy and proper linguistic context.
The researchers, also, shed light on the need to hold specialized educational courses in machine translation techniques within special programs in the College of Languages, and encourage academic research to keep pace with developments in this field.
