The Department of German Language at the College of Languages invited Mr. Ali Al-Fawaz, Head of the General Union of Authors and Writers in Iraq, to deliver
a lecture titled “The Reflection of German Philosophy on Iraqi Literature” on April 21, 2024, in the Martyr Fouad Hall. The lecture was moderated by Asst. Prof. Bahaa Mahmoud Alwan, a lecturer in the German Language Department.
The critical and influential role of German philosophy and its implications on the Iraqi cultural and literary scene was reviewed through its influence by major German philosophers such as Hegel and Nietzsche and contemporary philosophers such as Theodor Adorno and Habermas. Members of the audience, including the College staff and students, engaged in a lively debate on the significance of this idea throughout the presentation. The lecture set out to present this philosophical framework and the significant function it plays.
As a token of her appreciation for all of the guests’ hard work, the head of the German language department, Asst. Prof. Maysoon Ali Arzouki, gave him a memory gift at the end of the lecture.
