College pf Languages Celebrates the Cultural Day of the Spanish Language Department in the Presence of the Spanish Ambassador
The Dean of the College of Languages, Professor Dr. Ali Adnan Mushawish, received in his office on Thursday morning, February 13, 2025, Ms. (Alicia Rico Perez del Pulgar), Her Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, to participate in the activities of the Cultural Day of the Spanish Language Department.
The Dean stressed, in a speech, the significance of promoting academic and cultural cooperation between the two countries and the necessity of activating the role of scholarships and summer courses for students and faculty members in the field of training and linguistic development. The College also expressed its readiness to host the Cervantes Institute to be an important initiative in the field of cultural exchange between Iraq and Spain.
For her part, Her Excellency the Ambassador gave a speech on this occasion praising the efforts of the department in teaching the Spanish language, the students’ performance and their mastery of the language. She promised to facilitate all procedures supporting academic development in the College of Languages, and stated that it is a great honor to participate in the celebration of the Spanish Cultural Day where the students of the department presented a number of literary and linguistic activities in Arabic and Spanish, including the poem (My Homeland), the love of Iraq, and the play (A Boat Without a Fisherman), which embodied the call to do good and reject evil. In addition, several activities were performed demonstrating the students’ ability to master the Spanish language. Finally, a patriotic song about the great Iraq was sung.
The College of Languages emphasizes, through its support for cultural activities and the importance of learning languages, and in the presence of Her Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, faculty members and students, the Deanship of the College, its support to the cooperation and partnerships between different segments of society, in line with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals through cooperative efforts between academic circles, governments and other sectors.
