College of Languages publishes a scientific research paper in the global Scopus index
Two faculty members from the Department of Persian Language at the College of Languages, University of Baghdad (Lecturer Ivan Kareem Shanawa and Assistant Lecturer Jasim Majid Rashid) have published a joint research paper titled “External and Lexical Support of the Persian Language: A Semantic Study” in Springer Journal.
This journal is ranked in the third quartile of global scientific publishing platforms indexed by Scopus and focuses on humanities research. The study explores the status of nouns from the semantics and semiotics perspectives in the Persian language.
The researchers noted that earlier grammatical frameworks heavily relied on semantic interpretations, prompting an investigation into how semantics was utilized in the definitions of traditional grammatical schools. The paper also analyzes the role of semantics in traditional, formal, and structural grammar, highlighting semiotics as a scientific approach to language study that interprets definitions based on semantic principles.
