College of Languages Celebrates the International Day of Francophonie
The College of Languages celebrated the International Day of the French Language by organizing a distinguished cultural event attended by the Dean of the College, the assistant deans, the Head of the French Department, faculty members, and students.
The ceremony opened with a speech delivered by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ali Adnan Mashoush, in which he emphasized the importance of the French language as a bridge for cultural and civilizational communication among nations.
The event featured a variety of performances presented by students of the French Department, including short theatrical sketches, poetry recitations, dramatic scenes, as well as songs and cultural segments in French, showcasing the students’ linguistic abilities and their creative use of the language.
The celebration also included a special segment marking the centenary of the birth of the renowned Iraqi poet Badr Shakir al‑Sayyab. Selected readings from his works were presented, in a cultural gesture that connected Arabic literature with the celebration of world cultures.
