Today, Thursday, March 14, 2024, the Department of Persian Language at the College of Languages at the University of Baghdad examined the master’s thesis entitled (Tonal elements in the play “Opposite Mirrors” by Bahram Beyzaei, a “phonetic” study) by the student Mithaq Sayer Kamel.

The thesis aimed to emphasize the importance of the elements of intonation in the language, as they are the main pillars that make up speech, known as the melody of speech.

The thesis also included mastering the use of these elements because mastery is necessary to improve pronunciation among language learners. Given this importance, the thesis sought to study the intonation elements in this play according to the theory of “stratified phonology” in order to clarify the nature of these elements and reveal their functions in the Persian language.

The most significant recommendations that the study arrived at were that the elements of intonation have a role in clarifying meanings that change according to the context, the psychological state of the speaker, and the requirements of the recipient.

The examining committee consisted of the following members:

1- Prof. Dr. Anwar Abbas Majeed – Chairman

2- Asst. Prof. Dr. Gholamreza Mosta’la Parsa – External member of Allameh Tabatabaei University – college of Arts / University of Tehran / Iran.
