An academic delegation from the Faculty of Languages visits Ca’ Foscari University in Venice
In order to achieve the goals of sustainable development through academic and cultural partnerships with international universities, a delegation from the College of Languages headed by the Dean, Professor Dr. Ali Adnan Mishwash, visited Ca’ Foscari University in the Italian city of Venice, within the framework of the academic exchange project for development and qualification purposes, and under the supervision of the academic coordinators of the project from the two universities (Professor Dr. Graziano Seraguto from the Italian University and Dr. Bahaa Najm from the University of Baghdad).
The delegation included faculty members from the Italian Language Department for the purpose of participating in a course on developing modern Italian language teaching methods and preparing curricula by utilizing artificial intelligence, identifying errors, and modern correction mechanisms. The visit lasted for seven days at the Linguistic Pole building at the University of Venice (Ca Foscari).
The program organized several meetings between the two parties aimed at developing the project’s work to include students of the Future Participation Department and creating effective and real opportunities for their participation in language courses in the city of Venice (in person or remotely), within a cooperation mechanism that will be implemented during the current academic year 2024-2025.
One of the most important results obtained was the conclusion of academic agreements within academic capacity building projects that aimed to include other departments in the College of Languages. This came within the framework of important European projects that Italian universities aspire to achieve with Iraqi universities to establish strong academic relations and effective exchange programs between the two parties.
Moreover, as part of the initiative of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the Dean of the College of Languages, Prof. Dr. Ali Adnan Mishwash, presented to the officials of the Italian universities the scholarship program that Iraq currently offers to foreign students (study in Iraq) as a matter of reciprocity and the opportunities provided to Italian students to study in Iraqi universities, and the College of Languages in particular, especially for those interested in the Arab and Islamic world, the Arabic language and rare specializations in oriental languages.
It is worth noting that the academic mobility project concluded between the University of Baghdad and the University of Venice is currently in its second version and is the first project ever concluded by an Iraqi university in the country through the scientific mobility program (Erasmus+ K1), which allows faculty members from both parties to visit the other party for the purposes of qualification, training and academic work. It also allows them to hold seminars in Italy, where teachers from both parties worked on how to prepare the terms of the new curriculum that is currently being applied in the Italian Language Department in cooperation with experts from the University of Venice, especially with the (ITALS) laboratory, which specializes in developing Italian curricula in the world and qualifying professors specialized in this field.
