The deanship of the College of Languages wishes everyone a joyous celebration of Eid Al-Ghadeer. During his last pilgrimage , the Noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) assembled the Muslims who followed him at Ghadeer Khumm on the 18th of Dhul Hijjah [(circa March 19, 632 A.D.)]. He preached for a long time on a sweltering day, saying things like, “I am going to be summoned [by Allah], and I will react. What I have left behind for you is the Book of Allah [the Holy Qur’an)] and Ahlu Bayti (my family), two heavy items that will ensure your safety if you cling to them. In truth, I forbid their leaving until they have met me at the Pond [of al-Kawthar]. To which he said, “Whoever has regarded me as his Master must now regard Ali [(the cousin of the Prophet)] as his Master.”
God and His Messenger, who commands the good and prohibits the bad, designated him as the nation’s standard bearer, leader, and caliph. This magnificent creation so represents the culmination of God’s mercy and the perfection of His religion.
On the occasion of Eid al-Ghadeer, the holiest of all Muslims and believers, may God put us and you among those who cling to the protection and affection of the Master of the pure progeny, Commander of the Faithful.
Every year, without fail, without incident.
