Under the guidance of Professor Dr. Munir Hameed Al-Saadi, the President of the University of Baghdad, the College of Languages warmly received Mr. Pedro Martínez-Avial, the esteemed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain. The College organized a cultural event hosted by the Spanish Language Department, which saw the attendance of Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Adnan Mashoosh, Assistant Professor Dr. Ammar Ouda Jawair, the Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, the Head of the Spanish Language Department, the department’s teaching staff, and the students.

During the event, the Ambassador delivered a speech where he commended the department for their excellent teaching of the Spanish language and praised the students’ proficiency. The students of the department showcased their literary and linguistic skills through various activities.

Notable guests present at the ceremony included Deputy Mohammed Qutaiba Al-Jubouri, a member of the Council of Representatives from the Education Committee, and Deputy Kazem Al-Shammari. The College of Languages’ event emphasizes the significance of effective Spanish language education, contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 4 of ensuring equitable and inclusive quality education for all. The presence of the Ambassador, university officials, faculty members, and students signifies collaboration and partnerships among diverse stakeholders, aligning with the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 17, which emphasizes sustainable development through collaborative efforts between academia, governments, and other sectors.
