The Department of Persian received Asst. Prof. Mahdi Mardan Yaleki, Ph.D. , a teacher at Ferdowsi Mashhad University, and the Iranian Cultural Center at the Iranian Cultural Attaché in Baghdad, as a Visiting Scholar.  Prof. Anwar Abbas Majeed, Ph.D., official coordinator of the Department,  stated that the Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad already informed us, through Dr. Mohammad Jawad Najafi, who is in charge of the University Academic affairs at the Iranian Cultural Chancellery, about the full readiness to send the aforementioned scholar to our Department as a Visiting Scholar in the current academic year 2023-2024. The visiting scholar, who assumed his academic duties on Wednesday 29/11/2023, will participate in seminars and specialized academic sessions of the department, the official coordinator added. The department was provided with visiting scholars after signing memorandums of understanding between the University of Baghdad and Iranian Universities in October 2023.

Through its support of academic and cultural activities, the College of Languages emphasizes the importance of learning languages and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development objectives:

Fourth objective: Quality Education – Students receive a good education in the Persian language and culture, and so will be helped to achieve success in their studies and professions.

Eighth objective: Appropriate jobs and economic development- Students will have the chance to find an appropriate job, and contribute to the economic development of Iraq after graduation.

Tenth objective: Eliminating inequality- Students from all over Iraq will have the chance to be familiar with the language and culture of Islamic Republic of Iran, and this will help eliminate inequality in the country.

Seventeenth Objective: Cooperation to achieve goals- Post to signing MOUs between the University of Baghdad and the Iranian Universities in October 2023 along with the Embassy of Iran, The University of Baghdad- College of Languages will cooperate to support various academic activities.
