In the French Language Department Library, The French Language Department organized a seminar entitled (Death in French and Arabic Literature, “Sleeping Valley” by Arthur Rimbaud and “Cholera” by Nazik Al-Malaika, a Model of the Semiotic Approach). The paper has been presented by Professor Dr. (Sudad Anwar Mohammad) and attended by the Department’s professors, graduate students, as well as a number of the employees.

The aim of the research is to shed light on semiotics, which describes the science of signs as a party related to the social sciences. Semiotics considers the social and historical practices that are the subject of social sciences (myth, religion, literature, and other human sciences) as systems of signs. It is a study of the presence of signs in social life, as they deal with the structure of signals, their relationships in the universe, their distribution, and their internal and external functions.
